Tashkent, Apr. 15, 2020. /Kabar/. As of 10:00 a.m. on Apr. 15, 2020, the number of cases of coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan has increased by 49 to 1,214, the press service of the Ministry of Health said Wednesday.
Since Apr. 14, compulsory self-isolation has been imposed in five major cities in Tashkent Region (Chirchik, Almalyk, Bekabad, Yangiyul and Angren). Since Monday, the same regime has been introduced in Tashkent city and regional centers.
According to official data, the highest index of self-isolation among CIS countries is observed in Tashkent (4.4 points), the efforts of the authorities and citizens' cohesion ensured almost 100% self-isolation. According to WHO recommendations, self-isolation of citizens is the most effective method of combating COVID-19.
To date, 99 people have recovered from coronavirus infection in Uzbekistan and four have died.
This respiratory disease was first detected in the country on March 15.
