Visit of head of King Fahd National Library to National Library of Kyrgyzstan

Head of Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd National Library Suleiman bin Yusuf Al-Masuud and Director General for Administration and Finance of the Library Ibrahim bin Abdullah AlJumaih visited the National Library of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Alykul Osmonov, the press service of the Kyrgyz Library reported.

The visit to the Library took place as part of the second meeting of the joint Kyrgyz-Saudi Cooperation Committee in the Congress Hall of the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek, where one of the points of cooperation in the field of education and culture was the discussion of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Libraries of the two countries.

The Memorandum provides for cooperation in joint research projects of mutual interest, exchange of information, specialists, holding joint events, seminars, conferences, meetings and working sessions, organization of scientific tours in the framework of joint activities for the exchange of experience and staff development, etc.

Kyrgyz Library’s Director Jyldyz Bakashova conducted for the guests of honor a sightseeing tour around the halls and cultural centers of the Library, including acquainted with the Center for Culture and Studies of Saudi Arabia, and talked about the activities, funds and achievements of Kyrgyzstan’s National Library.

The National Library of Kyrgyzstan has had a Center for Culture and Studies of Saudi Arabia since 2016, which was opened with financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Center holds various cultural and educational events, including creative meetings, conferences, round tables, exhibitions, lectures, etc.

The King Fahd National Library (KFNL) is the legal deposit and copyright library for Saudi Arabia. KFNL was established in 1983 in response to an initiative made by the people of Riyadh when King Fahd ascended the throne. The project was announced in 1983 and the implementation started in 1986.
