Vladimir Putin visits Chyngyz Aitmatov House-Museum and meets writer's family

Bishkek, Mar. 28, 2019. /Kabar/. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the house-museum of world famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Torokulovich Aitmatov on Thursday.

In addition, the Russian leader and President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov had a conversation with the writer's family, and his younger son Eldar Aitmatov and his spouse Maria Aitmatova showed the guests around Aitmatov’s house.

The writer's family warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and expressed gratitude for his visit. After a friendly greeting, the guests proceeded with the tour around the house and they were traditionally invited to the dining room first.

The Russian leader listened keenly to the story of each interesting item that once belonged to the writer. Each of the objects presented in the museum, as noted by his son, has historical value today.

“We have kept the house in its original form, and much here seems to be outdated. But everything that is here has its historical significance and value,” Eldar Aitmatov said.

Then the guests went to the main hall, then followed to the exhibition room, where they got acquainted with Chyngyz Aitmatov's awards for achievements in political, literary, cinematographic, cultural and other fields.

The writer's son stressed that this is only a small part of his father's awards, and many orders, medals, certificates are kept at his stepbrothers’ today.

In the exhibition room, Putin keenly looking at the photos of the writer during the creative process, informal atmosphere, at a meeting with world stars and events of historical significance. Among the photofacts, the President of Russia found his own photo, which was taken in the Kremlin. On it, as the writer's son recalled, the Russian leader is holding a book by Chyngyz Aitmatov, highlighting his role in world literature.

Of particular interest to Putin were the historical documents of Aitmatov’s diplomatic activity, which once again became evidence in his eyes of the world significance of Chyngyz Aitmatov.

The President of Russia was also impressed by the personal library of the writer, where he personally saw how the works and novels were created, which can be found in 150 languages today. The writer's son showed his father’s drafts and shared that he didn’t like to typewrite.

“Thoughts get lost this way, he would say,” Eldar Aitmatov shared memories of his father, “and preferred to make manuscripts more. It was a very difficult process. Many corrections, as you can see. He also loved to make various sketches and caricatures. Some of them are kept here.”

After seeing all the rooms of the house-museum, the guests went to the exhibition hall, where they talked with the writer's sister Rosa Aitmatova, daughter Shirin Aitmatova and younger grandchildren. One of them impressed the distinguished guest with her charm that he made a gentleman's gesture by kissing the little hand of the writer's younger granddaughter.

As is customary among the Kyrgyz people, the host did not see off the guests empty-handed. He presented them with his paintings. Presenting the gifts, Eldar Aitmatov shared that he loves working on the theme of space. Therefore, the picture presented to the President of Russia was called “The Birth of the Cosmos”. He also presented the head of Kyrgyzstan with his work. The artist called it "Birth of a Star".

Concluding the tour, the writer's family thanked the Russian president for his assistance in installing the monument to Chyngyz Aitmatov in Moscow, which, in their opinion, all compatriots grew fond of.
