The volume of industrial production in January-February 2021 amounted to KGS 45 billion, having decreased by 13% compared to January-February 2020, head of the Department of Economic Statistics and National Accounts Elvira Isenkulova told at a press conference in the National Statistics Committee.
She said that the decrease was due to a decrease in the production of basic metals and finished metal products, except for machinery and equipment - by 35.6%, textile production, the production of clothing and footwear, leather and leather products - by 16.6%, as well as a decrease production volumes in the extraction of minerals - by 16.1%.
“Negative trends were observed in construction, where the volume decreased by 22.1%, wholesale and retail trade - 12.3%, in agriculture, there was an increase in volumes by 0.9%,” she said.
