Osh, Nov. 17, 2021 . / Kabar / . Bazar-Korgon region of Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad Oblast hosted walnut festival "Green economy for development".
The festival was attended by Presidential Envoy in Jalal-Abad Oblast Absattar Syrgabaev, head of Bazar-Korgon region Zhanysak Satybaldiev, representatives of several international organizations, foresters and local residents who assisted to organize the event.
As part of the festival, the audience was presented with delicacies of walnuts and other forest products, handicrafts made of wood and walnut husks, there were also presentations on tourism and entrepreneurship. The expansion, preservation and processing of walnut forests, and increasing exports were discussed during the festival.
There are 44 thousand hectares of nut forests in Kyrgyzstan. Of these, more than 38 thousand hectares are in Jalal-Abad Oblast. Last year the oblast exported 1 thousand 386.4 tons of walnuts worth USD 1 million 586.1 thousand. 1 thousand 463.3 tons of walnuts were exported for 9 months of 2021.
