Bishkek, Sept. 11, 2017 / Kabar /. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in USA and Canada together with Kennan Institute in Woodrow Wilson Centre in Washington hosted a Kyrgyz culture evening, dedicated to the modern and traditional Kyrgyz culture and music, the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affair reported.
Salt Peanuts, the leading jazz ensemble of Kyrgyzstan presented musical compositions of Kyrgyz composers to the American audience. On September 3 the band successfully performed on the stage of the legendary scene of the New York Birdland jazz club.
The event also presented products of Kyrgyz artisans, including the works of Gulmira Akmatova.
Kadyr Toktogulov, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the USA and Canada, director of Kennan Institute in Woodrow Wilson Metthew Rojanski and representative of Central Asian Program at George Washington University Marya Rozanova- Smith delivered a speech at the event. In their speeches they assessed the achievements of Kyrgyzstan in the years of Independence, including a short retrospective of Kyrgyz art and folk art Development and national creativity, as well as a role of Kyrgyz women in its maintenance.
