WB, Korean Gov't to assist in building Kyrgyzstan’s digital sustainability capacity

Bishkek, Feb.6, 2020. /Kabar/. At the end of this January, the World Bank Office in Bishkek hosted a workshop entitled "Digital Sustainability: International Experience, Strategic Challenges and Priorities for Kyrgyzstan".

The event was attended by representatives of state bodies of Kyrgyzstan, development partners, as well as world leading experts in the field of digitalization.

The workshop participants were familiarized with global trends in digital sustainability and successful experience of the Republic of Korea in this area, and discussed implementation of the Digital Sustainability Program.

Kyrgyzstan’s State Committee for Information Technology and Communications, together with the World Bank have started implementation of the Digital Sustainability Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2022.

This Program, financially supported by the Korea-World bank Partnership (KWPF), aims to increase the capacity and capability of Kyrgyzstan to understand, recognize, identify, track and respond effectively to risks to the digital economy and cyber threats, and to strengthen the country’s regional leadership in digital sustainability and data protection.

The Digital Sustainability Program is aimed at:

- Improve the technical knowledge and capacity of state bodies in the area of digital sustainability.

- Raising awareness in the Kyrgyz Republic and Central Asia about achievements and best international practices in the area of digital sustainability.

- Integration of the most important elements of digital sustainability into the key components of the "Digital CASA - Kyrgyz Republic" project and related programs and projects, which are implemented in Central Asia with financial support from the World Bank and the Government of the Republic of Korea.
