WB to allocate $ 46 mln to Kyrgyzstan to improve efficiency and quality of heat supply

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2018. /Kabar/. Deputies approved in first reading the draft law on ratification of the Financing Agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the International Development Association (Heat Supply Improvement Project). The document was signed on January 26, 2018 in the city of Bishkek.

According to the document, the Heat Supply Improvement Project is aimed at improving the efficiency and quality of heat supply in project sites, the total budget is $ 46.0 million, of which $ 23 million is a grant, $ 23 million is a loan.

The Heat Supply Improvement Project consists of three components: Component 1 aims to improve the efficiency and quality of the district heating system in Bishkek ($ 31.0 million), Component 2 will support the development and implementation of a national program to introduce efficient and environmentally friendly heating stoves in households without access to district heating ($ 5.0 million) and Component 3 aims to demonstrate the benefits of improving energy efficiency in public buildings ($ 10.0 million at).

The implementation agency for Component 1 is Bishkekteploset OJSC, which supplies heating energy to Bishkek consumers.

The implementation agency for Component 2 and 3 is the Republican Community Development and Investment Agency (ARIS). Following the discussion, the draft law was put to a vote.
