Bishkek, Dec. 8, 2021 . / Kabar / . Within the framework of the implementation of the law on the special status of Batken Oblast, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, together with other stat bodies is working with international financial institutions to attract investment to the region.
In particular, discussions of the project "Regional Economic Development of Batken Oblast" (RED-2) with the term of implementation from 2022 to 2027 are being held with the World Bank, the press service of the Economy Ministry said.
The planned project envisages activities aimed at developing selected agri-food clusters to improve production and productivity of small agricultural producers within selected clusters, as well as financing investments for compliance with sanitary and phytosanitary standards and food quality, which will include investments in laboratory capacity and certification of state agencies.
This WB project is envisaged with a preliminary amount of $50 million for a period of 6 years. The project covers 6 components of activities such as:
- Planning for sustainable development of territories;
- Maintenance of municipal infrastructure and basic public services;
- Strengthening agri-food clusters;
- Small grants program to support SMEs;
- Response to a possible emergency;
- Implementation support, monitoring and project evaluation.
