We must eliminate any possible risk of worsening epidemiological situation in country: PM

Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2021. / Kabar /. First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Artem Novikov held on Saturday a regular meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Combating COVID-19 and Preventing Its Consequences on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government said.

"The trend of coronavirus infection spread across Kyrgyzstan is slowing down. Statistics show that the number of recoveries (90 people) exceeds the number of new cases (70 people). Meanwhile, coronavirus infection is mutating all over the world. In this regard, we must also be prepared and eliminate any possible risk of worsening the epidemiological situation in the country. The Ministry of Health and Social Development must prepare a plan for the rapid deployment of all medical units in the event of a worsening epidemiological situation. In addition, the management of the ministry is instructed to draw up a schedule of COVID-19 vaccination of the population and to prepare the entire system of refrigeration equipment throughout the country. If necessary, the Ministry of Economy and Finance will allocate the necessary financial resources," said Artem Novikov.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Development Madamin Karatayev informed that currently a stable tendency of weekly registration of COVID-19 cases is observed. This indicator has been observed for the last 2.5 months.

“The situation is under control. There are 1,985 beds across the republic, of which 459 are occupied, not counting the reserve beds. If necessary, they will be deployed as well. The stock of medicines, medical products, individual protection means in healthcare organizations is enough for two months," the deputy minister said.

Having heard the information, the first deputy prime minister instructed the Health Ministry to ensure readiness of all hospitals, medicines, beds in case of worsening epidemiological situation. It is imperative to provide health care facilities with drugs intended for children, as well as oxygen concentrators until the end of February, to address the issue of staff shortages and be ready to deploy additional beds as soon as possible.
