Bishkek, Aug. 30, 2024. / Kabar/. We must sharply reduce electricity imports, having significant hydropower potential, said President Sadyr Zhaparov speaking at the opening of the Terek-Tash clinker plant in the Kemin district.

“We have started the implementation of large projects, such as the Kambar-Ata-1 hydroelectric power station, the construction of which has been postponed for various reasons for many years, and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which provides access to the sea. These infrastructure projects will undoubtedly give a powerful impetus to the development of the country.

In addition, we must sharply reduce electricity imports, having significant hydropower potential. We are obliged to properly use the water resources bestowed by nature and increase electricity production to provide for our people. We hope that in the coming years, electricity will also be added to our export list,” the head of state said.
