Week of Kyrgyzstan and day of Manas Epic to be held in Seoul

Bishkek, Mar. 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Diplomats of the countries of Central Asia in the Republic of Korea, with the support of the foreign ministry of this country, held a festival dedicated to Nooruz in Seoul.

The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Korea reported that the celebrations took place in the gallery of the Korean Foundation on March 20.

The festival was organized by the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat, with the active support of the Embassies of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Seoul City Hall and the Asia Culture Center.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova, Executive Director of the Secretariat Kim Song Ying, heads of diplomatic missions of Central Asian countries, the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in the Republic of Korea, as well as representatives of the Korean public interested in cooperation with Central Asia.

During the festival from March 20 to April 26 of this year, special exhibition devoted to Nooruz in Central Asia will be held at the gallery of the Korean Foundation.

“The gallery has a Kyrgyz yurt set up, stands of the national applied art of Kyrgyzstan, as well as Kyrgyz shyrdak (carpet) and a wide variety of felt products. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan plans to hold a week of Kyrgyzstan, in which the culture and traditions of the Kyrgyz people will be presented, performances of creative teams of the diaspora of Kyrgyzstan, national games, the day of Manas Epic and others will be organized,” the embassy reported.

Taking this opportunity, the embassy asks all Kyrgyz citizens living in South Korea to visit and invite friends and acquaintances to the Nooruz in Seoul exhibition, which lasts until April 26.

Nooruz or Nowruz is celebrated on the spring equinox, usually on March 21, and marks the beginning of a new year according to the astronomical solar calendar of the Iranian and Turkic peoples.
