Welcome ceremony of heads of SCO member states held in Samarkand

Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2022. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov took part in the welcoming ceremony of the heads of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The meeting of the leaders of the SCO countries is taking place these days in Samarkand city of Uzbekistan.

The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed the Summit participants at the Congress Center of the Samarkand Tourist Center.

Upon completion of the welcoming ceremony and joint photographing, the leaders of the countries moved to the hall for negotiations in a narrow format.

The SCO was founded in 1996 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Turkey is a dialogue partner of the SCO.

Prior to Uzbekistan’s accession to the SCO in 2001, the organization was called the Shanghai Five.
