WGS 2019 completes its work in Dubai

Dubai, Feb. 12, 2019 / Kabar/. The World Government Summit of its seventh edition (WGS 2019) completed its work in Dubai on Tuesday.

The three-day summit, held on Feb. 10 - 12, was attended by over 4000 representatives from over 140 countries, including heads of state, ministers and government officials, who gathered to unite efforts and shape the future of the world on the global WGS 2019 platform.

About two dozens of forums and hundreds of round tables were held on the margins of the summit.

During the summit, innovations, improvement of global governance, countering the challenges of climate change, fiscal policy, innovations in public services, post-conflict social reconciliation, the use of artificial intelligence and changing science and technology of the future of humanity were discussed.

The main purpose of the summit was to find solutions to the problems facing humanity and to propose mechanisms for effective government, no matter which end of the world it is.

“The summit is a knowledgeable destination for government officials, experts and shapers of the future of government work. The three-day summit offered a platform for leaders of countries and international organisations, to forge partnerships and launch initiatives that would contribute to shaping the future of world governments,” Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid said. His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai said on the closing of the World Government Summit.

He said the outcomes of the summit should represent frameworks for future policies and strategies adopted by governments and organisations. “The tasks of governments do not stop at serving their citizens at present but go beyond that and require them to keep abreast of rapid changes and prepare for the future,” Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid said.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said successful governments are those which can turn ideas, experiences and future perceptions into action programmers. “No government can perform its work efficiently without considering the interest of its citizens first,” he said. (WAM)

The seventh edition of the World Government Summit is closed with awards ceremony.

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the honouring ceremony of the World Government Summit Awards. Dubai Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also attended the ceremony.

His Highness Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs presented the series of mobile-government service awards to the winners.

The annual awards are designed to motivate government entities, and promote quite creative smart government initiatives and partnerships, with the aim of providing innovative smart solutions for the common global challenges.
