The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has also affected Kyrgyzstan. In just a few weeks, the situation on the foreign exchange market changed dramatically, various rumors spread in society, which led to a stir in shops and markets in Kyrgyzstan. A small panic began among the population. The country's authorities reassure the people that, for example, restrictions on the sale of sugar or butter are introduced only to prevent speculation.
Now one can already actively observe the work of the antimonopoly service, which actively suppresses the facts of speculative activity, and also regulates prices for basic products. The authorities are developing an anti-crisis plan. Thus, by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, the Anti-Crisis Committee for Rapid Response to Social and Economic Challenges was established.
This decision was made in order to implement the Decree of the President of Kyrgyzstan “On approval of the National Development Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2026” dated October 12, 2021.

Russia not so long ago announced that it was temporarily stopping the delivery of wheat to the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) countries.
However, the authorities said that there is no reason to panic. Minister of Emergency Situations of the country Boobek Azhikeyev said that the Fund of State Material Reserves is full as never before. He noted that flour, vegetable oil and sugar are available in the required quantity.
“Stocks are replenished regularly, there is no reason to panic,” he said.
The minister also noted that high-quality seeds are supplied to the republic from the Russian Federation through the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Thus, the country's farmers will be able to harvest a high-quality crop this year, thereby also ensuring food security in the country,” Azhikeyev assured.
In addition, anti-crisis measures are taken by the Ministry of Economy. So, last week a meeting was held with representatives of the business community, during which the sides discussed the current situation, and also discussed a number of measures that should be taken.
“The Cabinet of Ministers has implemented four packages of short-term government programs to restore economic activity and support the activities of business entities. Taking into account the consequences associated with the situation around Ukraine, in order to minimize the negative consequences, an anti-crisis plan of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic is being developed. The current situation carries risks both for the state and for business. Therefore, we will jointly develop practical measures to prevent the crisis, because business knows the situation on the ground better,” Minister Daniyar Amangeldiev said.
In addition, during the meeting, the sides also touched upon the issues of supporting business and the banking system in connection with the growth of the dollar, preventing the outflow of Kyrgyz som deposits.
It is reported that representatives of business associations have expressed concern about the restrictions on foreign trade operations with Russia, the termination of air traffic. They also stressed the need to work out alternative routes and, in general, issues of transport logistics. The businessmen proposed to use the possibilities of the Eurasian Economic Union.
An important point of discussion was the issue of replacing the shortage of supplies of vital goods from Russia and Ukraine, primarily medicines and food products. Based on the results of the discussion, a program of joint anti-crisis actions of the ministry and business will be formed, the ministry said.
As for the sanctions against Russia, yesterday the “Reloading” forum began its work in the capital with the participation of minister of economy and commerce, as well as representatives of the business community and public figures.
The forum discussed the impact of sanctions in Russia on the financial and real sectors of Kyrgyzstan, possible new prospects and markets, as well as the situation in the agro-industrial sector of the republic.
“Today, all opportunities have been mobilized and are aimed at overcoming the crisis situation. At the last meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, a number of normative legal acts were adopted that ease the tax burden on the import of raw materials for certain industries. VAT has been abolished on certain goods. This should minimize the rise in prices that is currently happening,” said Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev.
He also noted that there are no prerequisites for panic among the population regarding food products, since agreements have been reached on uninterrupted supplies of socially significant products.
“The government's anti-crisis plan is aimed primarily at stabilizing the financial market, supporting agriculture, and ensuring food security,” the minister said.
