Bishkek, Feb. 27, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeebenkov opened the conference “National Dialogue on Regional Development”, which is taking place in Bishkek from 27 to 28 February with the participation of representatives of three branches of power, civil society and representatives of donor organizations.
Speaking with a welcoming speech, the President welcomed the participants and noted that such meetings had not been held for quite a long time.
“For many years there has not been a meeting of this format. Its main goal is to discuss problems hindering the development of regions and finding ways to solve them. In 2018, all efforts were directed to the development of regions. But until today, the country's economic policy has not been calculated for such activities, which has led to increased internal migration,” the head of state said.
He stressed that in this regard, the issue of supporting regional development is on a par with preserving the territorial integrity of the state. To this end, it is extremely important to direct all forces towards improving the living conditions of rural residents, creating new jobs for them.
Further Jeenbekov elaborated on the work done by the state bodies after signing the decree on the Year of Regional Development in 2018.
