Bishkek, Feb.11, 2020. /Kabar/. During the press conference at Kabar News Agency, Director of Kyrgyzstan’s Investment Promotion and Protection Agency Adilbek uulu Shumkarbek told what enterprises have been opened in the country in 2019.

According to his data, 7 investment projects were implemented in 2019, the total amount of developed investments was more than $ 65 million, which is more than 3 times compared to last year.

"One of the major projects is the construction of a large plant to produce heating radiators. The amount of investments of the project is $40 million. The plant is located in the Bishkek Free Economic Zone. The number of employees is more than 300 people. The sphere of activity is industry. Most of the raw materials are imported from Russia, Kazakhstan and even European countries, but all added value is generated by Kyrgyzstan. Products are exported to Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. All the added value remains in the country. This is an export-oriented plant", Adilbek uulu said.

The next project is a plant for the production of yarn and gloves from the fittings-remnants of the garment industry.

"At the moment, $2 million of investments have been absorbed. This factory has opened in summer, it processes a waste of sewing shops of Kyrgyzstan and produces previously lacking products.

They began to engage in import substitution. Now entrepreneurs can buy from them instead of importing. There are 80 people working there. They are mastering part of the idle enterprise in Tokmok," the Agency's director said.

Adilbek uulu Shumkarbek added a project to build a trade and logistics complex in At-Bashi region (Naryn Oblast) has also started. Talks on the project began in summer 2019, and in December Prime Minister of the republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev gave the start to construction.

As a result, the sum of investments will amount to $ 280 million. It is planned to create 10 to 15 thousand jobs.

"We assisted in the launch of a garment factory in Chui Oblast. The sum is $1 million, 200 jobs. There is also a project to set up a plant for the production of valves and cables worth $ 50 million. More than $20 million has already been spent, construction is underway. There is also a project to build the Novotel Hotel, the project cost is $ 25 million, with 150-180 new jobs,” he said.

The Agency’s director noted construction of a machine-building plant, the investment’s volume is over $ 100 million.

At the moment, $30-40 million has been used and 400 jobs will be created.

"It will be a machine-building plant. By the end of the year we will get the first generators. We have also prepared a textile cluster - more than $10 million has been mastered," he said.

The director of the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency stressed 5 investment project are planned to be implemented in 2020.

Some of them were moved from 2019 to 2020 due to technical or financial issues.
