Bishkek, April 16, 2021. / Kabar /. The World Health Organization (WHO) in Kyrgyzstan is closely following the development of news on the use of Aconítum soongáricum in the treatment of COVID-19 in Kyrgyzstan and would like to report the following:
“Clinical research all over the world is an integral stage of drug development, which precedes its registration and widespread medical use. A new drug is being studied in clinical trials to obtain data on its effectiveness and safety. Based on these data, the authorized health authority makes a decision on the registration of the drug or refusal of registration. A drug that has not passed clinical trials cannot be registered and recommended for widespread use by the population.
Currently, WHO does not have data on the efficacy and safety of Aconítum soongáricum for the treatment of COVID-19. To obtain such data, it is necessary to study its pharmacological properties in research (pre-clinical and clinical) in accordance with internationally recognized standards.
It is extremely important not to self-medicate and, if symptoms of COVID-19 disease appear, immediately seek help from medical institutions.
WHO strongly recommends to continue to take necessary precautions: keep a physical distance, wear masks, wash hands frequently, use disinfectants, ventilate areas, and take a COVID-19 test when symptoms appear according to approved protocols."
