Bishkek, Sept.30, 2019 /Kabar/. The awarding ceremony of winners and participants of the first Kalpak republican competition, announced by the Kiyiz Duino (World of Felt) Public Foundation and the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center named after Chyngyz Aitmatov took place in Bishkek.
The Kiyiz Duino Public Foundation and the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center, supporting the process of popularization of Kalpak-traditional male ethno-labeling headgear of Kyrgyz, aimed to preserve and disseminate the original knowledge that ancestors invested in its making.
Thus, the Kalpak republican competition has been organized, which for the first time gathered in exhibition more than 76 unique headgears from all over Kyrgyzstan.
The form of the original Kalpak is a reflection of the snowy peaks of mountain Kyrgyzstan, and the Kyrgyz have been recognizing the age and status of owner by Kalpak, could determine his clan and tribe.
The republican competition was announced on 5 March on Ak-Kalpak Day. 52 headgears were presented to the jury at the first stage of the competition. Then kalpaks were exhibited in the exposition hall of Rukh Ordo for the trial of thousands of residents of Kyrgyzstan, tourists from near and far abroad.
