Women in Kyrgyzstan are more educated than men

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2021 . / Kabar / . Distribution of women and men by type of activity and group of occupation predetermined a higher educational level of employed women, the National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan said.

In 2020, the share of women with higher professional education in the total number of employed people was more than 28%, men - 19%. Among those with secondary vocational education 17% and 8%, respectively.

Male employment prevails in activities and occupations where secondary or incomplete secondary education is sufficient, but vocational training is necessary. Among employed men, the share of persons with primary vocational education was more than 10%; among women - about 5%.

At the beginning of 2020-2021 academic year, women accounted for 52% of higher vocational education students and 56% of secondary vocational education students.

Meanwhile, men choose professions related to mechanical engineering and metalworking, processing of forest resources, development of minerals, construction and architecture, electronic engineering, and power engineering.

Traditionally there is a high proportion of women studying in higher vocational education: education (about 86% of the total number of students), humanities (over 73%), services (over 63%), natural sciences (about 60%).

In turn, men mainly choose professions related to architecture and construction (about 82%), agricultural sciences (about 75%), technical (over 69%) and law (about 66%).
