Bishkek, March 9, 2022 / Kabar /. The number of women and men in Kyrgyzstan are almost equal, but women live 8 years longer, according to the National Statistical Committee.

As of January 1, 2022, 6.8 million people lived in Kyrgyzstan, of which 50.4% are women.

Every year, more boys are born than girls (105 boys are born for every 100 girls). The preponderance of the female population begins around the age of 40, and at the age of over 80, the number of women is almost 2 times higher than the number of men. In 2020, average life expectancy for women was 76 years, and 68 years for men.

There are more women among pensioners, but their average pension is lower than that of men. In 2020, the total number of retired women was 457 thousand, men - 234 thousand. This is largely due to the difference in life expectancy.
