Bishkek, Feb. 24, 2022 . / Kabar / . The work on development of low-yield lands is actively carried out in Kyrgyzstan, Head of the Kyrgyzgiprozem State Design Institute of Land Management State Enterprise Almaz Abdiev said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He noted that there are 9 million hectares of pastures on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, most of which are prone to degradation.
"All this happens because of human actions as well as natural causes. Our institute Kyrgyzgiprozem is engaged in geobotanical research of lands, as well as soil surveys. We provide information about the quality of agricultural land. Thus, our task is to identify low-productive lands with subsequent development for other activities, such as gardening," Almaz Abdiev added.
He believes that in this way soil fertility will increase.
Thus, in 2020 and 2021, similar works were carried out in Batken, Jalal-Abad, Osh and Issyk-Kul Oblasts. This year it is planned to conduct work in Naryn, Chui, and Talas Oblasts.
"Based on the results of the work, we will determine marginal area of land that can be developed," Abdiev said.
