Working trip of Sooronbay Jeenbekov to Batken Oblast

Bishkek, Mar.12, 2020. /Kabar/. "The Leilek region has a special place in the history and life of the country today. It has not only internal, but also geopolitical significance. Due to the remoteness and still unsolved problems, the Leilek region is focus of my attention," President Sooronbay Jeenbekov said on Wednesday at the meeting with residents of Suluykta town and Leilek region in Isfana.

The President told the local residents about the main directions of his presidential activities, reforms in various areas in the country.

At the meeting, which lasted more than four hours, Sooronbay Jeenbekov and heads of relevant state bodies answered a number of questions of local residents concerning the development of cross-border cooperation, transformation of lands, provision of clean drinking water to the population, fight against corruption, capital repair and construction of social facilities in the regions, etc.

On Mar. 10-11, as part of his two-day working trip to Batken Oblast, President Jeenbekov familiarized with the irrigation projects in the region - construction of the Maksat 2 inverted syphon in Leilek region and R-4 irrigation canal in Batken region.

In addition, the Kyrgyz leader got acquainted with the progress in implementing projects to provide clean water to the population in of Batken town, as well as with the construction of a logistics center, a milk processing plant, a glass factory, a reinforced concrete plant and a slaughterhouse.

Further, he inspected the road equipment being transferred under the Central Asia Roads Links Program project with the assistance of the World Bank.

The President visited the Batken Zonal Veterinary Laboratory and familiarized with the activities of the Anvarbek agricultural cooperative. He also visited the Batken border guard unit.

The head of state paid visit to Aitmatov secondary school in Batken, toured classrooms, gymnasium, talked to the students and teachers of the school.

He got acquainted with the progress of construction of the Isfana – Kairagach checkpoint highway in Batken Oblast.

Also as part of his working trip, Jeenbekov visited veteran of Great Patriotic War Koshon Baymatov, who lives in the village of Razzakov, Leilek region.

At the same time, the President honoured the memory of Soviet statesman and party leader Iskhak Razzakov. He visited the memorial house-museum in the city of Isfana and left a memorable note in the visitors' book.
