Bishkek, Oct. 12, 2024 . / Kabar / . One-day working visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Turkmenistan, which took place on Oct.11, is completed, his press service reported.
During the visit, Zhaparov took part in the international forum "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations - Basis of Peace and Development", dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Turkmen poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
The event was attended by presidents of Armenia, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, heads of international organizations, members of foreign governments, prominent scientists, cultural figures and diplomats.
Speaking at the forum, Sadyr Zhaparov stressed that Makhtumkuli Fraghi is not just a name in history: he is a symbol of the spirit of freedom, humanity and high morality, whose ideas and creativity have become a bridge between times, peoples and civilizations.
The president noted that in his poetic world Makhtumkuli Fraghi managed to gather all the colors and richness of folk creativity: his works act as a consolidating force because poetry is a universal way of communication. In his poems, the poet called people to the purity of morality, to the highest human qualities such as patriotism, humanism, courage, honor and dignity.
During the forum, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow awarded Sadyr Zhaparov with a medal in honor of the 300th anniversary of Makhtumkuli Fraghi.
Then, the Kyrgyz president met with Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
The sides exchanged views on deepening trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as implementation of joint projects in such areas as trade, energy, transportation and logistics.
Following the meeting, Sadyr Zhaprov presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow with a book of selected works of Makhtumkuli Fraghi in the Kyrgyz language.
Having completed his working visit to Turkmenistan, Sadyr Zhaparov returned to Bishkek on Oct. 11.
