‘Workout Open Fest 2020’ first street gymnastics festival held in Bishkek

Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2020 /Kabar/. The first “Workout Open Fest 2020" street gymnastics festival was held in Adinai Park in Bishkek.

According to the press service of the capital's Mayor’s Office, the COVID-19 pandemic has made its corrections, this year's competitions were held online.

"16 young athletes from all over Kyrgyzstan took part in the health festival. They competed in gymnastics and physical fitness, and leaders of Workout culture from Armenia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Chile joined us remotely," the report says.

The team of fans with observance of a sanitary distance was made up of the citizens, Head of the Department of Humanitarian Development Monitoring and Interaction with Civil Society Institution of Kyrgyz President’s Office Kudaibergen Bazarbayev and Bishkek Mayor Aziz Surakmatov.

“Workout Open Fest 2020” was organized by the Bishkek Mayor’s Office and the Street Workout Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Street workout is a physical activity performed mostly in outdoor parks or public facilities. It is a combination of athletics, calisthenics, and sports.

Street workout is a modern name for bodyweight workouts in outdoor parks. There are also street workout teams and organized competitions exercises such as pull-ups, chin-ups, push-ups, dips, muscle-ups, sit-ups and squats. Street workout also involves some static (isometric) holds such as the human flag, front lever, back lever and planche.
