Works of young director Usenaliev presented at international film festival in China

Bishkek, Nov. 29, 2018. /Kabar/. These days, China International New Media Shorts Festival, the annual international film festival, is held in Shenzhen, China, to encourage the production of short films, discover new talents, and develop intercultural ties. In the list of numerous participants from different countries of the world is the name of Kyrgyz citizen - Bakai Usenaliev.

The young director from Kyrgyzstan presents his work to the jury and the audience - short film “Ispytanie” (Russian: Испытание, lit.: trial). In the center of the storyline is an ordinary usual Bishkek family - a father, mother and ten-year-old son. The characters lead a simple life - they simple pleasures, get upset sometimes, make plans for the future. But once in their usual life, an unpleasant event occurs that will be a test for each family member. Will the characters be able to maintain trust, love for each other and their family, or can happiness be easily and simply lost by one wrong decision?

“The organization and scale of the film festival impressed me a lot! I believe that this is a great opportunity to gain experience, to acquire knowledge, new acquaintances, ideas and thoughts for further creativity. It is a great honor for me to represent our country at such a large international event,” Bakai Usenaliev said.

In 2016, as a student of the 4th year of Beishenalieva Kyrgyz State University of Culture and Arts, Bakai Usenaliev won the prestigious Ak-Ilbirs Award in the nomination “Best Short Film”. His debut film “Koltso” (Russian: Кольцо, lit.: The Ring) was filmed in the horror genre, highly praised by the jury and received good reviews from viewers.

As part of the annual China International New Media Short Film Festival, the best short films from around the world are shown; seminars and discussions are held. Winners in five main nominations are awarded large cash prizes.
