Osh, Dec.3, 2018. / Kabar /. The Osh Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS, with the assistance and support of international and non-governmental organizations, civil society activists organized a regional action in Osh city of Kyrgyzstan with the participation of young people within the framework of the planned activities for World AIDS Day.
During the event, the participants were shown a documentary film on the situation with HIV / AIDS prevention and control, as well as the results of a drawing contest and stage performances among high school students in Osh and Osh region were summed up. The action was attended by about 130 students and teachers, as well as representatives of municipal bodies, civil society, youth activists.
During the event, students presented posters and pictures on the topic of HIV / AIDS prevention, promoting healthy lifestyles, and also demonstrated their creative talents in theatrical performances. According to the results of competitive events, winners and prize-winners were awarded with valuable prizes, diplomas and letters of thanks.
The regional action was held in the framework of the monthly action devoted to the World AIDS Day, during which the main goals were to combat stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV, to counter the spread of HIV / AIDS, to popularize the need to HIV testing, striving for new generations without HIV.
During a monthly action, various contests, lectures,round tables were held with the participation of representatives of relevant non-governmental and public organizations involved in the prevention of HIV / AIDS and sexually transmitted infections and injecting infections.
Annually, on December 1, in accordance with the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN General Assembly, adopted in 1988, the World AIDS Day is celebrated. In Kyrgyzstan, this day has been marked since 1996.
