Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2024. / Kabar/. Member of the Kyrgyz national team Asan Zhanyshov won the gold medal of the World Youth Greco-Roman Wrestling Championships in Spain.
The tournament among athletes under 20 years old started on September 2 in the city of Pontevedra.
Zhanyshov competed in the 87 kg weight category and started from the 1/8 finals. The Kyrgyzstani won three victories in a row over athletes from Georgia, Sweden and Romania and reached the final.
In the decisive fight, Zhanyshov fought for the gold medal against Zhozhu Samadov from Azerbaijan.
The athlete from Kyrgyzstan won an early victory with a score of 8:0 and won the gold medal, becoming the world champion.
