Bishkek, March 24 / Kabar /. The 12th world chess champion Anatoly Karpov will take part in the awarding ceremony of the winners of the IV Cup of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on chess among children, the V Sport Agency reported.
Anatoly Karpov will come to Bishkek on March 25 at the invitation of the Chess Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
"In order to support the development and popularization of chess in our country, to stimulate the younger generation, taking into account the level of the tournament, Anatoly Karpov agreed to visit the Kyrgyz Republic. As an honorary guest, the world champion will reward the winners of the children's chess tournament for the President's Cup," the agency reported.
President of the Chess Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic Milan Turpanov said that they are happy about this event. “Karpov’s visit will be a continuation of the chess "boom" in our country. We are sure young chess players will be delighted to receive the award from the hands of the world champion," Turpanov said.
