World Day of Social Justice, initiated by Kyrgyzstan marked in the UN

Bishkek, Feb. 22 / Kabar /. The World Day of Social Justice, initiated by Kyrgyzstan has been marked at the UN headquarters on Tuesday, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

This day was adopted by the UN General Assembly on the initiative of Kyrgyzstan in 2007.

The event was organized by Kyrgyzstan, together with France, Colombia, Tunisia and the International Labour Organisation.

In view of the current situation in the world, where 93 percent of people living in extreme poverty live in countries with protracted crises, considerable attention was paid to the creation of decent jobs for conflict prevention and peacekeeping.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres sent a special message on the occasion of the World Day of Social Justice. The message says that the peace, prosperity and social justice are closely related. A fair and comprehensive access to decent work and income-generating activities are crucial to conflict prevention, post-conflict challenges and create sustainable societies. UN Secretary-General called on all Governments and societies to invest in people and particularly vulnerable groups.

Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan informed the participants about 10 years work to promote issues of "social justice" at the UN fields. It was noted that social justice means equality. It has become a tenet of Agenda of sustainable development up to 2030 and the Millennium sustainable development. M.Moldoisaeva also shared the country's experience in post-conflict reconstruction, reform and reforms aimed at sustainable development.
