World Government Summit kicks off in Dubai

Dubai, Feb. 10, 2019 / Kabar/. The World Government Summit 2019 (WGS 2019) has started in Dubai on Sunday.

This year’s World Government Summit’s agenda is focused on how governments can harness innovation and technology to solve universal challenges facing humanity.

The WGS 2019 began with the speech of Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future on usage of modern information technology by governments of countries.

In his keynote speech Prof. Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum focused on environment al issues, in particular, how will the industrial revolution impact cities.

One of the Summit’s main areas of focus is the usage of knowledge, technology and international cooperation to accelerate the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Opening WGS 2019, UN Deputy-Secretary General Amina J. Mohammed noted that the achievement of the SDGs is not on track.

The three-day event brought together thousands of high-level officials – presidents, ministers, government officials. In total more than 4,000 participants from 140 countries came to Dubai to the WGS 2019.

The World Government Summit is a global platform dedicated to shaping the future of governments worldwide. Each year, the Summit sets the agenda for the next generation of governments, focusing on how they can harness innovation and technology to solve universal challenges facing humanity.
