World journalists got acquainted with work of People’s Daily newspaper in China

Beijing, Oct. 20, 2023. / Kabar/. Foreign journalists - winners and finalists of the First Silk Road Global News Awards visited the People’s Daily headquarters in Beijing and got acquainted with the work of the editorial office within the Media Cooperation Forum on Belt and Road.

The People's Daily is the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which provides direct information on the policies and viewpoints of the CCP in multiple languages.

The leadership of the country and the Chinese Communist Party pays great attention and provides great support to the People's Daily holding.

On February 19, 2016, Xi Jinping, Chinese President, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee made an inspection tour of the People’s Daily Headquarters.

Xi Jinping said that the entire party and the entire people find spiritual strength and firm conviction from the newspaper. “The Central Committee of the party supports you, and I also support you,” he noted.

The People's Daily, for its part shows maximum professionalism, perseverance and creativity to help in the implementation of the assigned tasks of the Communist Party.

The paper was established on 15 June 1948 and was published in Pingshan County, Hebei, until its offices were moved to Beijing in March 1949. The editorial office moved to a new building in 2015 equipped with the latest technology. Now the new headquarters of the People’s Daily is located in commercial business center of the capital city. The form of the High-rise building comes from Chinese character "人" which translated into English means "People", corresponding to the title of the media People’s Daily.

The People's Daily is the newspaper with the largest circulation in the Celestial Empire. In 2022, the circulation of the daily newspaper was 3.56 million copies.

Currently, the total number of users of the People’s Daily Media Center exceeds 820 million.

During the visit of foreign journalists to the headquarters, Zhang Pei, Division Chief of External Relations Department of the People’s Daily explained to the reporter of Kabar News Agency of Kyrgyzstan the popularity of the newspaper. He said that that the people have the habit to read the paper and they subscribe the newspaper.

“These are usually CPC members, the leadership, management level of companies, public institutions and also ministries. That’s the big part of our readership. But for the youngsters, the university students, they always use phones, that’s why we have the website, mobile applications, the new media and we invested human resources and money into the new media," he noted.
