World Nomad Games included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Bishkek, Dec. 16, 2021. / Kabar /. The World Nomad Games (WNG) have been included in the UNESCO List of Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This decision was made today at a meeting of the UNESCO Committee, which is being held online from 13 to 18 December 2021 at the UNESCO headquarters (Paris, France).

The Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan said that the World Nomad Games: Revival of Heritage, Celebration of Cultural Diversity is the first nomination presented by the Kyrgyz Republic in this list.

In total 59 nominations from all countries of the world will be considered this year at the meeting of the Committee for inclusion in the UNESCO Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The inclusion of nominations in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists is intended to contribute to a greater popularization of the intangible cultural heritage at the international level.

Currently, the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists include 601 elements of intangible cultural heritage from around the world, including the Epic Trilogy: Manas. Semetey. Seytek, Traditional craftsmanship for making a male headdress of the Kyrgyz Ak-kalpak from Kyrgyzstan and others.
