5th World Nomad Games kicks off in Astana

Bishkek, Sept. 8, 2024 /Kabar/. The opening ceremony of the 5th World Nomad Games has begun in Astana (Kazakhstan).

Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as the chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and others are present at the Astana Arena sports complex, where the performance is taking place.

More than 2 thousand participants from 89 countries will take part in the sports competitions: Armenia, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Estonia, Ethiopia, Russia, France, Germany, Iran, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, etc. The Kyrgyz national team is represented by more than 180 athletes in 18 types of games. The Kyrgyz team opened the parade of athletes by being the first to walk the lap of honor.

The games will feature 97 sets of medals in 21 sports, with a total of 581 medals.

About 560 horses will be involved to hold the competitions. 45 birds, including eagles from Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan, will take part in the traditional hunting competitions.
