Bishkek, March 25, 2024. / Kabar/. The World Tuberculosis Day was celebrated on March 24. The National Center for Phthisiology of Kyrgyzstan told Kabar about the tuberculosis situation in the country.
According to data of the center, in 2023 there was a decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis in the Kyrgyz Republic compared to previous years.
In 2023, 4 thousand 170 new cases and relapses of tuberculosis were registered (59.8 per 100 thousand population). Over the same period in 2022, 4,568 new cases and relapses of tuberculosis were registered (65.5 per 100 thousand population), in 2021 - 4,596 new cases and relapses of tuberculosis (68.7 per 100 thousand population).
“The highest incidence of tuberculosis, as before, remains in the Chui region - 88.5 per 100 thousand population. The lowest incidence of tuberculosis is in the Issyk-Kul region - 42 per 100 thousand population. In addition, in 2023, the incidence of tuberculosis among children decreased and amounted to 11.9 per 100 thousand population. For comparison, in 2022 this figure was 14.5 per 100 thousand population. The incidence of tuberculosis among adolescents increased slightly over the past year and amounted to 41.2 per 100 thousand population,” the report said.
The mortality rate from tuberculosis in the country in 2023 was 2.6 per 100 thousand population, or 180 cases. In 2022 – 2.5 per 100 thousand population, or 176 cases.
