Tashkent, March 11, 2021 / Kabar /. A wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of the great Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov was held in the capital of Uzbekistan on Wednesday, the correspondent of Kabar reports from Tashkent.
Chairman of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, People's Poet of the Republic Sirojiddin Sayyid, speaking at the opening ceremony, noted that today literary relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have reached a new level. The decision of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in April 2018 on a wide celebration of the 90th anniversary of the great writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov is a sign of great respect for the literary works of the brotherly people.
Speaking about the relationship between Kyrgyz and Uzbek representatives of the literary and artistic world, Sayyid noted that the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Writers' Unions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in 2019 will play an important role in the development of bilateral literary relations. This cooperation serves to familiarize young people and students with the literature of the brotherly Kyrgyz people, in particular with modern literature.
Sayyid believes that the opening of the exposition of Chingiz Aitmatov at the National University of Uzbekistan, the massive publication of the works of the great Kyrgyz writer in Tashkent, as well as the translation of the Kyrgyz folk Manas epic, the novels of Uzbek writers into the Kyrgyz language are an achievement of bilateral literary relations.
Another positive event that took place these days, he noted, was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Ala-Too magazine and the Uzbek magazines Shark Yulduz - Star of the East and Jahon (World Literature).
“The meeting of the leaders of the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples, their decisions will be an important incentive in achieving success in the timely fulfillment of the tasks set before the literary community of the two countries,” concluded the chairman of the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by writers and artists from leading theaters, representatives of the Kyrgyz National Cultural Center, the public of the city of Tashkent.
The event was timed to coincide with the visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan.
