Bishkek, June 3, 2021. / Kabar /. The SCO non-governmental friendship forum, organized by the Good-neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the SCO, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Hubei Provincial People's Government, has started in Wuhan on June 2.
SCO leaders, representatives of SCO states-members, ambassadors, experts, business representatives, scientists, journalists from SCO member states, observer countries and dialogue partners participated in it both online and offline.
The participants of the forum discussed the role of the organization in strengthening the social foundation of good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation, the implementation of the "Shanghai spirit" of the SCO, participation in regional governance, strengthening humanitarian contacts and exchanges, envisioning the idea of a community of the common destiny of mankind.
The participants noted that Wuhan was not chosen by chance as the venue for this international meeting. This city has become a symbol of fortitude, heroism and human warmth.
Speaking at the forum, Secretary General of SCO Vladimir Norov said that the victory over the coronavirus in Hubei and Wuhan became possible primarily due to the organization under the leadership of President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, by a large-scale mobilization of the best doctors, the most advanced equipment and the most necessary resources to provide all-round assistance in the fight against coronavirus.
He also stressed that during the pandemic the SCO countries has shown solidarity by providing each other assistance and support, by this, the SCO countries have shown an example of efficiency of bilateral cooperation to many countries and regions of the world.
The participants of the forum emphasized that during 20 years of its existence SCO has become a powerful and authoritative regional organization with the largest population coverage in the world.
Currently, SCO permanent members are China, Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Four more countries Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia are observer countries and other six countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Turkey, are dialogue partners.
The SCO Forum on People-to-People Friendship also organized a comprehensive exhibition in Wuhan on the theme "Home of SCO", consisting of several exhibition such as the Chinese Painting Exhibition of 100 Female Chinese Painters, the various countries’ culture exhibition, the China Poverty Reduction Exhibition - Light of Hope, the SCO Book Exhibition, and the SCO Member States’ Children's Painting Exhibition. Besides, Yoga and Taichi exchange activities, as well as tea ceremony and coffee exhibition was organized.
The forum is resulted in signing the Wuhan Initiative of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Forum on People-to-People Friendship.
