Bishkek, Jan. 18, 2019. /Kabar/. A solemn event was held in Bishkek on January 17 to mark the completion of the social project “Programming without Barriers”, in which 20 young people with special needs mastered the profession of a programmer for free.
Now they are waiting for another important stage – the best graduates of the program will have the opportunity to train at leading IT companies in Kyrgyzstan.
The representative of one of the IT-companies Suleiman Almatov already has experience working with a novice programmer with disabilities who has cerebral palsy.
“Nowadays, there is a very high demand for IT specialists everywhere. For nearly 20 years of work, we have witnessed our programmers going abroad. Unfortunately, there are no means of holding them here. But thanks to this project we have opened another source of human potential and creative thinking. I noticed one feature, young people with special abilities are very diligent. This is a wonderful quality that helps us in working with clients,” Almatov told.
The project had been organized by the Kyrgyz Association of Software and Services Developers and IT Academy. The project is implemented with financial support from the European Union. European Union Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Edward Auer noted that this project, despite relatively low costs, showed good results.
Mr. Auer said that Education is one of the key areas of EU where they work with the government of Kyrgyzstan. This is a pilot project, such projects are rarely implemented even at the international level. The Union is involved in education, because it bears fruit in the future. The more educated the society is, the better the country will develop. This project is small, but it has a positive effect and positively influences the participants. They got the opportunity to use their potential to change their lives. The results of the project will be analyzed and the project will be implemented in a larger scale.
