Zhaparov and Mirziyoyev discuss current areas of Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2022. / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met with head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Samarkand.

The leaders of the countries discussed the current directions of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral cooperation, which has good dynamics and is able to reach a new level, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.

In this regard, the president of Uzbekistan noted the importance of expanding the activities of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, which successfully began its activities through the implementation of joint projects.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the conclusion of the trilateral Agreement on the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. The interest of the Uzbek side was expressed in the active implementation of this large-scale project, which will bring benefits to the parties.

In addition, the leader of Uzbekistan noted the importance of deepening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, including in the implementation of large projects, as well as intensifying cooperation between the regions of the two countries, especially border regions.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the Uzbek side is actively preparing for a visit to Kyrgyzstan and hopes that it will give a powerful impetus to bilateral cooperation in all areas.

In turn, Sadyr Zhaparov thanked his Uzbek counterpart for the hospitality, high organization of events under the chairmanship of the Uzbek side in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and also noted the large-scale creative work carried out in Samarkand during the preparation of the Summit.

Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations are primarily due to close historical, cultural and spiritual ties.

“We always appreciate and support friendship, unity and fraternal ties between our peoples. This is our common heritage. Today the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan are close neighbors, strong friends and strategic partners,” he said.

Sadyr Zhaparov assured that Kyrgyzstan is fully committed to further strengthening political cooperation, all-round expansion of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with fraternal Uzbekistan.

He expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in enhancing cooperation in the transport and transit sector, including the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.

The heads of state paid special attention to the importance of implementing the projects for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway and the Kambarata HPP-1. They noted that the speedy implementation of these and other projects will contribute to the development of not only the two countries, but the entire Central Asia as a whole.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan expressed confidence in the further expansion and deepening of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in various areas.
