Zhaparov and Mirziyoyev meet, discuss topical cooperation issues

Bishkek, March 11, 2021. / Kabar /. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov met on Thursday with Uzbek leader Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two presidents discussed current issues, the current state and prospects of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and measures to further develop effective cooperation, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the level of strategic partnership of the two countries. He expressed readiness for serious and full-scale cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and use of all resources for this purpose.

He also said an agreements have been reached on increasing trade turnover and removing all barriers, strengthening cooperation between enterprises and business facilities, bringing the number of joint ventures to fifty, creation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek Investment Fund, efficient use of transport potential, cooperation in water and energy, border issues, etc.

"The Uzbek side is determined to work actively and productively together for the benefit and prosperity of our brotherly peoples," the Uzbek leader stressed.

President Zhaparov emphasized that for Kyrgyzstan, the further gradual development of friendly and good neighborly relations with Uzbekistan in all aspects of bilateral cooperation remains one of the main priorities of its foreign policy.

He noted with satisfaction the progress in the delimitation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, and highlighted the need to continue and intensify the negotiation process.

"I want to assure once again that the Kyrgyz side is ready for a constructive and productive dialogue on all problematic issues," the Kyrgyz leader said.

Zhaparov also noted the republic attaches special importance to the comprehensive expansion and deepening of trade and economic cooperation, expressing readiness to work together to create favorable conditions for the access of goods and services to the market of the two countries in order to increase bilateral trade turnover up to $2 billion.

At the endd of the meeting, the Kyrgyz president invited his Uzbek counterpart to pay reciprocal visit to Kyrgyzstan.
