Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev informed the head of state about the results of negotiations between the government delegations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, held in Tashkent on March 24-25, the Kyrgyz president’s press service said.

“As part of the implementation of the agreements of the heads of the two states, the sides signed a final Protocol, according to which all issues on the remaining sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border passed the description procedure on the principle of exchange of territories,” Tashiev said at the meeting.

He also noted that the sides agreed to open two checkpoints and carry out restoration work by the Uzbek side of five more checkpoints.

Kamchybek Tashiev summed up that there will be no more disputed areas on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border from now on.

President Sadyr Zhaparov noted with satisfaction that this step is a historic event in the history of Kyrgyz-Uzbek bilateral relations and will put an end to certain border disputes that took place earlier.

The head of state emphasized that this was a long-term desire of the two peoples, which is already becoming a reality today.

President Sadyr Zhaparov noted the need to intensify negotiations in this direction with other neighboring countries.
