Bishkek, April 19, 2024 / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, as part of an official visit to Astana, held talks with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a narrow format, the Information Policy Service of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
Priority issues of deepening Kyrgyz-Kazakh cooperation in trade and economic, water and energy, transport and border and cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed gratitude to Sadyr Zhaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan for the fraternal humanitarian assistance provided in connection with large-scale floods in a number of regions of Kazakhstan.
He also noted that today the parties are signing a historical document - the Treaty on the Deepening and Expansion of Allied Relations, which will give new impetus to the development of Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that bilateral trade and economic cooperation is expanding every year. Last year, mutual trade turnover reached USD 1.5 billion and grew by 26%. He emphasized the need to increase this figure to USD 2 billion.
Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, hospitality and noted that Kazakhstan is the closest neighbor and fraternal state, which has a special priority in the foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The president of the Kyrgyz Republic emphasized that the nature of bilateral relations between the countries is predetermined by the common historical destiny of the two peoples. “The Kyrgyz and Kazakhs are connected by centuries-old friendship, brotherhood, close proximity, common cultural, spiritual, religious values and traditions,” said Sadyr Zhaparov.
He also noted that Kazakhstan is one of the main trading partners of Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, trade and economic cooperation is developing dynamically on all issues of mutual interest. The parties are working to implement bilateral investment projects, such as the construction of solar power plants, a ferroalloy plant, and an industrial, trade and logistics center, which in the near future will be practically implemented in the interests of the two fraternal peoples.
In conclusion, the parties confirmed their mutual commitment to developing cooperation in all areas in the spirit of allied relations and strategic partnership.
