Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov received on Wednesday Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Luxembourg Muktar Dzhumaliyev, his press service said.
The president was briefed on preparations for the upcoming First "European Union - Central Asia" Bishkek Economic Forum, scheduled for Nov. 5 this year.
Muktar Dzhumaliyev presented information on current aspects of bilateral and regional cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Union (EU).
The ambassador added that the EU delegation arriving in Kyrgyzstan is expected to be headed by Vice President of the European Commission for Economic Affairs Valdis Dombrovskis.
Dzhumaliyev reminded that this is the first EU-CA economic platform, which reflects and unites economic interests of the member states. The event will be held at the level of prime ministers.
The European Union has announced the allocation of more than EUR 1 trillion for the implementation of the EU Strategy on the transition to green economic development. In this regard, the Kyrgyz side can offer its sustainable economic cooperation projects with the EU in the framework of the upcoming forum.
Muktar Dzhumaliyev also said the Forum will include sessions and separate events devoted to such topics as green economic recovery, improvement of the business environment, digitalization, as well as parallel sessions in the field of energy, finance, tourism and others.
Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that the development of effective political and economic cooperation with the European Union is defined as one of the priorities of the foreign policy of the republic.
The Kyrgyz leader added that this forum can be seen as a positive signal for the expansion of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and the Central Asian region as a whole.
The president instructed the relevant state bodies to carry out preliminary, organizational work at the proper level. Particular attention should be paid to quality organization and content, as this economic forum will open new business and investment opportunities for the country both at the bilateral and regional levels of cooperation with the EU.
