"Today Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan have demonstrated their commitment and desire for a close and multifaceted dialogue, which meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of our countries,” Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said in his statement to the media after negotiations with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
The Kyrgyz president noted that the bilateral talks were rich and fruitful, the key issues of development of Kyrgyz-Turkmen relations, prospects for further expansion and deepening of strategic partnership in political, trade and economic, transit and logistics, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres of interaction were discussed, and an exchange of views on topical regional and international issues took place.
"We focused our attention on those areas, where joint efforts can give the greatest effect, first of all, we were talking about trade, economic and investment ties, cooperation in energy, transport and logistics and agro-industrial spheres. In order to diversify trade and economic cooperation we expressed the desire to increase mutual trade, opening of joint ventures and industrial cooperation," said Sadyr Zhaparov.
The two presidents also exchanged views on international and regional topics of mutual interest.
"We discussed issues related to upcoming events, including the organization of the next Consultative Meeting of Heads of States of Central Asia", the Kyrgyz leader noted.
In addition, Zhaparov and Berdimuhamedow considered issues of expanding the contractual and legal framework of bilateral cooperation. Following the results of the meeting, a number of documents were signed in trade and economic sphere, in education, culture, sports and youth policy, as well as on cooperation of foreign policy agencies.
The sides welcomed the holding of mutual Days of Cultures, taking into account the improvement of the epidemiological situation in the countries.
In conclusion, President Zhaparov expressed satisfaction with the results of the talks.
“Today's visit is an indicator of the high level of Kyrgyz-Turkmen relations, which confirms that in Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan has a reliable friend and strategic partner," said the Kyrgyz leader, expressing gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow for his readiness to deepen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
