Bishkek, April 5, 2021 . / Kabar / . President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov met on Monday with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Byeong-seug.
An aspects of inter-parliamentary, political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said.
The head of the state noted that today there is a need to further strengthen bilateral ties, to reach a new level of interaction between the countries and passed the words of greeting to President of South Korea Moon Jae-in.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted the great potential of trade and economic cooperation between the countries, which is promising for both Kyrgyzstan and South Korea. He invited the governments of the two countries to work closely in this direction, expressing the hope that through joint efforts of the parties it would be possible to increase the volume of trade.
The Kyrgyz leader also stressed Kyrgyzstan is currently taking all necessary measures to create a favorable investment climate.
"To this end, we are carrying out political and socio-economic reforms in the country, including those aimed at providing the necessary guarantees for foreign investors, openness of the economy, liberal trade, foreign exchange regime and a favorable tax base," President Zhaparov said.
He called on Korean businessmen to invest more in Kyrgyzstan's economy and highly appreciated financial and technical support provided by Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF).
The president noted the interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of education, suggesting the Korean side to consider increasing quotas for scholarship educational programs for students from Kyrgyzstan, as well as the implementation of exchange programs for students and teachers.
In turn, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Byeong-seug emphasized the willingness and readiness of the Korean side to cooperate in various fields and actively participate in the progressive development of Kyrgyzstan.
He expressed the intention of the Korean side to expand investment in Kyrgyzstan, as the two countries have common points of contact, including in the field of culture.
The speaker expressed the readiness to deepen cooperation in other areas, which have now been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"I wish you success in the fight against the disease, we are ready to cooperate in this direction in the future. Kyrgyzstan is an interesting country for us in terms of cooperation. You have a rich nature and all conditions for tourism development. We are ready to deepen our cooperation," said Park Byeong-seug.
Sadyr Zhaparov also expressed readiness and openness to further comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation with South Korea.
