Bishkek, Dec. 10, 2021 . / Kabar / . "With the growing influence of external inflationary factors and in order to increase the competitiveness of economies of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, it is necessary to more actively use national currencies in calculations," Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said Friday speaking at this year's final meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) in the format of video conference.

The Kyrgyz leader emphasized that the current crisis and its damaging impact on the economy of the entire Union, including the increase in poverty, job losses and the growing development gap, undoubtedly require special attention to the sustainable development of the economy of the integration association.

"To this end, it is necessary to jointly introduce effective mechanisms to support the implementation of cooperative projects, to create logistical infrastructure and commodity distribution systems that will have a positive impact on increasing exports of goods and the development of the economies of the Union states as a whole," Zhaparov noted.

The Kyrgyz leader believes that such systems should be accompanied by modern digital services in trade, transport, sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary regulation, as well as customs control.

In addition, the president stressed that one of the circumstances that increase the impact of the crisis on the economies of the Union member states continues to be the use of foreign currency in mutual settlements.

In this regard, Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the Eurasian Economic Commission together with the governments of the Union should prepare specific proposals for the use of national currencies.
