Jalal-Abad, June 8, 2022. /Kabar/. At the ceremonial launch of the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric power plant construction on Wednesday, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov spoke about what other hydroelectric power plants should be built in the country.
"Today we use only 10-11% of Kyrgyzstan's hydropower potential. In the future we need to build not only the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, but also such hydroelectric plants as the Suusamyr-Kokomeren, Sary-Dzhaz, Kazarman and Upper Naryn cascade," he said.
The event to launch the construction of the Kambarata-1 HPP was attended by Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov, Energy Minister Doskul Bekmurzaev, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, veterans of energy, energy, civil servants and representatives of the business community.
The Construction of Kambar-Ata Hydropower Plant-1 project is the biggest energy facility of the whole cascade of Kambarata Hydropower Plants. It envisages construction of a 256 m high rock-fill dam and a hydropower plant with installed capacity of 1860 MW, with average annual output of 5.6 billion kWh and total reservoir volume of 5.4 billion m3 of water.
The construction period is from 8 to 10 years. Commissioning of the first hydroelectric unit of the HPP is four years in the presence of permanent financing.
