Bishkek, Aug. 16, 2017. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is interested in long- term supplies of mineral fertilizers from Uzbekistan, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbai Zheenbekov said during the meeting of Kyrgyz- Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on bilateral cooperation, which is held with the participation of Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov in enlarged format.
He said that, at the meeting in the enlarged format, the sides noted specially revitalization of cooperation between two countries. Also they declared about necessity of continuation of this dialogue and strengthening the cooperation.
"At the meeting with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, we came to the understanding that the development of the two peoples is impossible without the removal of barriers and restrictions. We noted the need to renew the checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, move transit cargo, create joint investment projects, establish joint Kyrgyz-Uzbek enterprises, logistics centers and processing enterprises. In addition to the above-mentioned points, Kyrgyzstan is interested in long-term supplies of mineral fertilizers from Uzbekistan, the development of road and rail links, which increase the turnover and tourist flows," Zheenbekov said.
The head of the Kyrgyz government stressed that 8 years have passed since the last meeting of the intergovernmental commission on Kyrgyz-Uzbek cooperation. "This is a fairly long period in the work of our commission," he said.
Zheenbekov said that, Kyrgyzstan warmly perceived the words of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev that the main priority of Uzbekistan's foreign policy is the Central Asian region. Namely strengthening of relations with neighbors, with which the national interests of Uzbekistan are connected.
In addition, the prime minister said that, the meeting of Presidents of the two countries during the visit of President Atambayev to Samarkand gave a powerful impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
