Bishkek, Aug. 7, 2019 / Kabar /. Zhong Ji Mining Company temporarily suspended its work at Solton-Sary gold mine, First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov told.
The decision was made on the basis of the relevant conclusion of the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Government’s press service reported.
First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov visited on Aug. 6 Naryn region, where he met with residents of neighboring villages, listened to the arguments of both sides of the conflict and determined ways to resolve the situation.
Boronov emphasized that the demands put forward by local residents will be fulfilled within the framework of the law. In addition, a thorough investigation will be carried out regarding incidents that occurred these days at the field involving local people and representatives of a Chinese company.
“A special interdepartmental commission will conduct its work. Based on the results of their work, appropriate decisions will be made,” he said.
Zhong Ji Mining Company has been operating in Solton-Sary field since 2009. The Solton-Sary deposit is located 355 km far from Bishkek in Naryn region, at absolute elevations of 3,500–3,600 meters above sea level.
