Bishkek, Jan.28, 2020. /Kabar/. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation of Kyrgyzstan has no alternative to importing products from China in case the borders with that country are closed.
At the press conference at Kabar News Agency, Director of the Plant Quarantine Department at the Ministry of Agriculture Ilich Marsbek uulu said today the border with China is closed until Feb. 1 and, accordingly, goods are not imported from there.
"From China, we mainly import vegetables, such as peppers, walnuts and citrus fruits," he said.
The official said situation in case of complete closure of the border is currently being analyzed. As a result of this analysis, measures will be taken.
"Note that, on the one hand, the virus is not transmitted with products of plant origin. Because there must be a certain environment for the virus. The virus dies within 10 minutes outside of being in a living organism," he explained.
